InfoCamp Berkeley 2010/Travel
From InfoCamp
Coming in from out of town? We're happy to have you! Here's some information about getting to Berkeley and where to stay once you're here.
Air Travel
- The closest airports to UC Berkeley are the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and the Oakland International Airport (OAK). The San Jose International Airport (SJC) and the Sonoma County Airport (STS) are a bit further away, but you can still get here from there if need be.
Public Transportation
- The home of InfoCamp Berkeley, UC Berkeley's South Hall, is a 10-15 minute walk from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. You can take BART to Downtown Berkeley from numerous locations in San Francisco and the East Bay, including both SFO and OAK — SFO has its own BART stop, while OAK has a shuttle called AirBART that connects the airport with the main BART lines. (If you're coming into SJC or STS, you'll probably want to rent a car.) The AC Transit bus authority also has several bus lines that run near campus.
Parking
- Parking on campus, and in Berkeley in general, is possible but not a lot of fun. Here's where you can read up on campus parking regulations. We recommend taking public transportation if at all possible.
Hotels
- A brief guide to hotels near UC Berkeley
- The JDV Hotels chain has cute and relatively affordable boutique hotels throughout the Bay Area, including one in Berkeley, one in Oakland, and several in San Francisco.
- The areas around SFO and OAK have plenty of chain hotels for a variety of budgets. If you want to stay near SFO, we recommend looking at hotels in Millbrae, which is just south of the airport and provides an easy connection to BART.
